The National Obedience Championship is coming in July and Happy Dogs Training Center is planning tournament and event training. You do not have to be entered or even invited to participate.
If you have not been to the NOC or watched the live feed, participants perform 2 or 3 open and/or utility exercises in each of 8 rings. For example, one ring may involve doing the gloves, the broad jump, and the Figure-8. This is not how we usually practice gloves – without standing between two jumps. Practicing these rotations in a trial-like setting makes for good proofing for our dogs and a lot of fun for handlers when done with friends.
Once again, Happy Dogs is privileged to have four members invited to the NOC and two that have chosen to attend. We will be helping them get ready by scheduling NOC training on the following day/times:
- Friday, June 4th: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
- Friday, June 18th: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
- Friday, June 25th: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
- Friday, July 2nd: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Have you missed training with friends this past year? Here’s your chance!
I need volunteers to come train with Annette and Barb. Volunteers will take turns holding the clipboard and creating distractions for them. Volunteers will also practice the rotations with their own dogs. To participate, your dog should know the open and utility exercises and be ready for a little proofing.
Please respond to me (do not hit reply to all!) and let me know what days/time you can come.
This training is included in Happy Dogs memberships. Non-members are welcome to participate with payment of a drop-in fee.
Happy Dogs Training Center wishes all the NOC competitors the best of luck and the performance of their dreams at the 2021 National Obedience Championship!
